The Gas tank Nightmare

Attempting to make the Syncro gas tank fit with the diesel starter in the 2WD westie rear end was a lot of work.

First I tried hot forming, it ripped.
Then I wanted to plastic weld it, it looks like Polyethelene, but at 1/4" thick I didn't like the idea of a singl esided palstic weld.
I got Buta N rubber for gasketting.Made a steel tub, spent many hours trying to get it to seal and finally gave up on it.

In the end I put a couple jerry cans on the back and the fuel pump ended up on the bumper to avoid vapor lock. Sometime soon I hope to make a tank out of steel that is similar to the Syncro tank.
